My Biggest Challenge In 2022 and My One Promise To You⚡

Thanks to all of YOU supporting my humble downtown Edmonton massage therapy business, I am celebrating my first full year running a successful business!🎉 I have learned some important lessons that I’d like to share with you, after deeply reflecting on my success and all that’s happened throughout 2022.

This practice could not be thriving today if it weren't for YOU, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my small business, and connecting with me in the treatment room. Before I share my lessons, I’d like to celebrate the business WINS that you all helped to make a reality.

2022 WINS:

✏️Launched profitably in January 2022!

✏️Re-invested back into obtaining the Graston Technique training

✏️Re-invested into obtaining my 150 hours Thai massage certification

✏️Started a monthly blog

✏️Started a YouTube channel

✏️Added professionally shot website videos on our massage page demonstrating the 4 principle treatment methods we offer. (With a 5th one - TMJD was just added!)

✏️Grew profits each month with healthy profit margins month over month

✏️Started selling Active Releaf products in clinic

With all the successes, there were definitely some personal struggles. I made a couple big and difficult shifts in my personal life amongst trying to hire and train my first contractor. With all this, I realized, with everything new I was learning, and the business pulling my attention in many different directions that require different skill sets, I found it a big struggle to keep up my foundational anatomy, physiology and pathology study.

This is not okay because I make it my personal mission to strive to be the best massage therapist and entrepreneur I can be. I really struggled to find time to study, and lost my love of studying and feeling creative in my craft for the last 6 months of the year.

So, for 2023, my promise to YOU, my incredible clients is that I will make it my personal mission to be the best massage therapist I can be, which means going back to basics. I plan to do that via the following:

✏️Studying assessment, treatment and home care for 1 new pathology per month

✏️Reviewing 1 new muscle, connective tissue or nerve pathway per week.

✏️Reviewing upcoming treatments for the week and might be sending questions and requesting photos or videos from you the week prior to your treatment so I may be better prepared beforehand.

✏️My continuing education this year will NOT be focused on adding new modalities and tools like in 2022, but on orthopedic assessments and foundational anatomy and physiology. Although I invested over $7000 in training in new offerings and new modalities last year, you still need to brush up on foundational knowledge as a practitioner, in my opinion, weekly.

✏️I learned a lot from hiring my first practitioner - I didn’t have any documents or outlines prepared, and so now that I have everything written and ready for my next hire, it's time again: I will be hiring and eventually referring a few clients to this new practitioner in 2023. The demand is simply too large with a constant 6 to 8 week waitlist and it's the bottleneck that is preventing Strive Holistic growth.

On a personal note, I bought my first condo and it is now a rental property, with plans to expand my real estate portfolio with an additional property by August 2023. You all celebrated with me when I announced my purchase and I’m so grateful for that too.

I am SO PROUD to be sharing this with all of you. Here's to 2023 and with the popularity for this ambitious little practice rapidly growing, DON’T WAIT: book your treatment now! Your body is waiting for you to treat it with the expert massage it’s been craving.🔥
